End-to-end Healthcare Knowledge and Experience

I have experience across the whole healthcare sector. I have worked in medicine around the world, from the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London to the townships of Cape Town, to volunteering in Cambodia and Madagascar, to surgical training in Canada. As an entrepreneur I have founded, built up and sold a private medical insurance company and a digital health business. I’ve had senior roles in life sciences and pharma, and been Medical Director of a national UK pharmacy chain. I’ve worked in global health both for a non-profit charity, and with international bodies like USAID and World Health Organisation.

Head of Innovation,Commercial Development

In my current role I oversee the commercialisation of innovative ideas created at Guys & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London. The Trust employs 6,000 people and sits across multiple sites including Guys Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital plus Royal Brompton, Harefield and Eveline Children's Hospitals.

Start-up mentor and investor

I believe in supporting entrepreneurs with great ideas, especially those making a difference in healthcare. I mentor and advise startups and younger companies, plus make personal investments in some.

Innovating in a heavily-regulated and risk-averse environment like healthcare is hard. Very hard. You can listen to my own story about innovation in healthcare at a talk I gave at London Business School. And you can also listen to me on BBC Women's Hour being challenged for trying to launch a new cervical smear test off a tampon, contrary to the current established thinking at the time.
